Auction & Bidding Rules
These 18 official rules govern all bidding activity and live watch auctions on TradeAuct. Compliance is mandatory for all buyers and sellers.
Official Bidding & Auction Mechanics
Binding Offer Obligation
By placing a bid, you make a binding offer to purchase the item at your bid amount if you become the winning bidder and all applicable auction conditions are satisfied. Final legal wording remains subject to UAE legal review.
Financial Capacity
A bidder must only place bids where they possess sufficient funds to settle the winning bid, buyer fee, shipping, and applicable taxes.
Payment Verification
TradeAuct may require a pre-authorized payment method or deposit before enabling live bidding privileges.
Zero Tolerance for Shill Bidding
Shill bidding is strictly prohibited. Sellers must not bid on their own listings directly or indirectly through associates.
Seller Bidding Prohibition
Sellers are forbidden from using secondary accounts or affiliated parties to drive up auction prices artificially.
Marketplace Integrity
Collusion or bidding rings designed to artificially inflate or suppress closing prices will result in immediate suspension.
Confidential Reserve Prices
Where a seller sets a Reserve Price, the exact reserve amount remains confidential to all bidders.
Reserve Status Visibility
The auction interface displays either 'Reserve Met' or 'Reserve Not Met' to keep bidders informed.
No-Reserve Auctions
In a No-Reserve auction, the highest valid bid at closing wins the auction regardless of the final amount.
From-Zero Auctions
A special format of No-Reserve auction with a starting bid of AED 0. The first minimum valid bid starts at AED 10.
Reserve Auctions
The seller is obligated to sell only when the confidential Reserve Price has been equaled or exceeded.
Buy Now During Auction
Where enabled by the seller, an auction may be concluded instantly by a buyer executing the Buy Now option prior to the final reserve threshold.
Anti-Sniping & Automatic Extensions
To guarantee fair bidding, bids placed in the final minutes automatically extend the auction countdown without resetting the bid increment structure.
Irrevocability of Bids
Every bid constitutes a binding purchase commitment. Bids cannot be retracted or cancelled once submitted, except by TradeAuct under verified exceptional technical circumstances.
Winning Bid Payment Window
Winning bidders must complete checkout and payment within 24 hours of auction conclusion.
Non-Paying Winner Penalties
Failure to complete payment results in an account strike, forfeiture of bidding rights, and potential financial penalties.
Seller Cancellation Restrictions
Sellers cannot cancel or withdraw an active auction once valid bids have been submitted without TradeAuct authorization.
Auction Manipulation Consequences
Any attempt to manipulate bidding mechanics results in transaction cancellation, account termination, and legal referral.
Official Minimum Bid Increment Schedule
Minimum increments are calculated automatically based on the Current Highest Bid (not the starting price or reserve price). Bidders may always submit custom higher bids above the minimum next bid threshold.
| Current Highest Bid Tier | Required Minimum Increment | Example Current Bid | Example Minimum Next Bid |
|---|---|---|---|
| AED 0 – 999 | AED 10 | AED 850 | AED 860 |
| AED 1,000 – 4,999 | AED 50 | AED 3,000 | AED 3,050 |
| AED 5,000 – 9,999 | AED 100 | AED 8,000 | AED 8,100 |
| AED 10,000 – 24,999 | AED 250 | AED 18,000 | AED 18,250 |
| AED 25,000 – 49,999 | AED 500 | AED 35,000 | AED 35,500 |
| AED 50,000 – 99,999 | AED 1,000 | AED 60,000 | AED 61,000 |
| AED 100,000+ | AED 2,500 | AED 150,000 | AED 152,500 |
Zero Tolerance for Non-Paying Bidders
Winning an auction creates a legally binding obligation to purchase. If a winning bidder fails to submit payment within 24 hours, their account is permanently restricted from future auctions, and TradeAuct may offer the timepiece to the second-highest bidder.
